About This Blog

When you write your family history, be a recording angel and record everything your descendants might want to know.

This blog, Memories on the Page, is a place for current and aspiring life story writers, memoirists, and writers of autobiography to find tips on the craft, author interviews, and some thoughts on bookmaking and self-publishing.

I have one memoir under my belt, Gumbo Tales: Finding My Place at the New Orleans Table. Over the past several years, I’ve been teaching Composing Your Life Story classes to adults through Cuesta College. The ideas on this blog are a culmination of that work. My aim is to maintain the come-one-and-all, anyone-who-can-write-can-be-a-writer philosophy of my community classes. You do not need writing experience to begin your life story or memoir project; you just need ambition to tell your story. This blog exists to help you harness that ambition.

If you ever need help staying motivated in your writing life, or with editing a finished batch of stories before you publish them for family or the wider world, message me to learn more about my private coaching and editing services.

In the meantime, I’m so happy you’re here. I’m with you both in spirit and substance as you put your memories on the page.
